Berchmans Academy student awarded medal by Representative Clay Higgins

Grand Coteau, La., (May 2017) – Berchmans Academy senior, Adam Bobbs, was presented the Congressional Award Silver Medal by Representative Clay Higgins on May 26 on the Sacred Heart campus in Grand Coteau.

Bobbs said, “This award means a great deal to me, and to have it presented by Representative Higgins is an honor. I’m extremely grateful for all of the opportunities I’ve had to better myself and serve my community.”

Bobb’s sponsor in the medal program, Katherine Meredith said, “In earning his Congressional Award Silver Medal, Adam was able to learn the true meaning of community service while also, learning new things and becoming more patient.  He also learned that the journey is just as important as the destination.”

Participants in the medal program earn Bronze, Silver, and Gold Congressional Award Certificates and Bronze, Silver, and Gold Congressional Award Medals. Each level involves setting goals in four program areas: Voluntary Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration. Recipients are honored for achieving their own challenging goals after registering for the program.

Adam’s service work included volunteering at St. Joseph’s Diner and a mission trip to Nicaragua to help ensure that the community had clean water and safe schools.

Adam is the son of Ken and Kathy Bobbs.  After graduation from Berchmans Academy on June 1, he will attend Louisiana State University Ogden Honors College, where he is the recipient of the Presidents Alumni Scholarship.  He will major in Mechanical Engineering.
