Founded in 1890 by the Sisters of Christian Charity to educate the daughters of recent German immigrants, Josephinum Academy has a long tradition of educating young women in Chicago.Josephinum Academy is a Catholic, single sex, college preparatory high school empowering young women of Chicago to become confident, faith-filled leaders.

As the Wicker Park neighborhood transformed over the last century, and as most Catholic high schools moved out of Chicago's inner city, Josephinum has remained relevant and dedicated to the educational needs of the local community. Today, under the leadership of the Religious of the Sacred Heart, Josephinum continues this tradition by committing itself to extending the opportunity for a quality, Catholic, college-preparatory experience to an increasing number of ambitious young women, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, or socioeconomic status.
