Sacred Heart School of Halifax is an Independent Catholic school that educates students intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and physically in a caring and trusting environment. Our heritage and Sacred Heart spirit inspire commitment to value-based education relevant to a pluralistic student body. Our dedicated faculty and staff foster a caring atmosphere in which a sense of self-discipline and academic excellence abound. Creativity, discovery and energy are evident as you walk through our school. Sacred Heart School of Halifax is a registered historic building situated across from the Public Gardens, within easy walking distance of libraries, museums, sports facilities, and art galleries.
Sacred Heart School is the oldest school in Halifax having operated on Spring Garden Road since 1849. Over the years many changes have been made to the building, including the addition of several wings, and the removal of a wing. In September of 2009, a brand new building to house Fountain Academy of the Sacred Heart, boys' high school, opened adjacent to the original building. It was designed to complement the old world charm of Sacred Heart School.
