Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart, an independent Sacred Heart School for boys in grades junior kindergarten through eight, seeks a Head of Lower School to begin on July 1, 2012. Located in Princeton, New Jersey, Princeton Academy enrolls 230 boys. Approximately 130 students are in the Lower School, which is comprised of grades Junior Kindergarten through Four. Rooted in the more than 200-year tradition of the Society of the Sacred Heart, our mission is to develop young men with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding and compassion for others, and the courage to act on their beliefs. Princeton Academy has established itself as an outstanding school for boys that educates the total child: intellectual, spiritual, moral, social, emotional, and physical.
A love of teaching, enthusiasm for working with boys, and a willingness to continually learn about and implement the best practices of educating boys, are essential, as are a strong ability to collaborate with faculty and communicate effectively with parents. Experience in administration and familiarity with Guided Reading, Writer's Workshop, Everyday Math, and the Responsive Classroom is preferred.
