Upper School Dean of Students (Grades 9-12)
Role Description
The Dean of Students is directly accountable to the Upper School Division head and is a member of the Administration Team. She is responsible to work with the following:
Administration
1. To implement the GOALS and CRITERIA of Sacred Heart education.
2. To maintain the standing of the school among schools in the New Orleans area, the Network of Sacred Heart schools, and the ISAS Network.
3. To assume common responsibility in designing and implementing school-wide policies.
4. To assist in long-range planning.
5. To prepare the yearly and monthly calendar of events for the Upper School.
6. To coordinate the use of shared facilities – the assembly room, dining hall, gym, etc. – as well as the use of the Upper School building.
7. To assist in the implementation of emergency plans for the Upper School.
8. To maintain budget lines appropriate to the Dean of Students’ Office.
9. To assemble the Upper School Parent/Student Handbook.
Faculty
1. To provide leadership for classroom management.
2. To supervise homeroom and club moderators.
3. To oversee the planning of off-campus activities, such as field trips, class projects, etc.
Students
1. To administer the discipline system in the Upper School.
2. To oversee attendance procedures in the Upper School.
3. To implement, coordinate and supervise co-curricular activities in the Upper School.
4. To moderate Student Council and additional activities.
5. To coordinate special Upper School events, such as graduation, Prizes, proms, conges, etc.
6. To work with the Division Head to interview student candidates.
Parents
1. To communicate personal and affective progress of students.
2. To oversee all correspondences relating to student life programs, discipline and procedures.
