The Academy of the Sacred Heart, affectionately called The Rosary, is a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school in uptown New Orleans. It was founded in 1887 and offers 16 years of instruction for girls from Toddler through Upper School. The school's Mater Campus houses the Little Hearts, Preschool and Primary Divisions and the Nims Fine Arts Center. The Rosary Campus is home to the Middle and Upper School Divisions. The school opened its new Arts and Athletics Complex in the fall of 2011 which includes a new 37,000 square foot gym, a fitness center and an indoor running track. The adjacent Favrot Arts Center has a dance studio with sprung floor, a multi-media room, a music wing for choral, instrumental and electronic music and an art studio.
The Rosary will celebrate its 125th anniversity in 2012 and continues to stand as a monument in uptown New Orleans.
